Fuerteventura: star destination and hotels for this 2014

Travellers have it clear: 2014 will be the year to visit Fuerteventura. The island, and specifically the village of Corralejo, are in the top-10 list of trending destinations in the world worth visiting, according to Tripadvisor’s users (Destinations On The Ride – Travelers Choice).

The beauty of its coasts, its volcanic landscapes (the island features 24 volcanoes, most of which can be visited through trekking signposted routes), the amazing beaches, sports such as kitesurf and its closeness to Lanzarote and to the Islote de Lobos are some of the characteristics which, according to the travellers, make Fuerteventura a must-visit place for next holidays 2014.

One of the classic events in Fuerteventura is the carnival of Puerto del Rosario, ideal for starting the year with rhythm; in summer, there is such a variety of parties, concerts and shows that it is difficult to choose among all of them. For us, the music festival of Fuerteventura has become in recent years one of the main cultural meetings in the island. It is an event that has been celebrated for 10 years on the great beach of La Concha (El Costillo) at the beginning of July.

Some surf classes in the 7 Island school in Corralejo or in the Surf Camp of Morro Jable are a perfect plan if you want to know how it feels to surf the waves of the Atlantic on a board. There are intensive 3-day or weekend courses and there is also the possibility to book 7 full days of surf with accommodation and a half board plan.

Regarding the accommodation, Fuerteventura has some of the best beach hotels in Spain, among which we highlight the accommodations in the peninsula of Jandia, where there is a good quality price ratio (specially if you travel as a family). Some of the most recommended hotels in Jandia are the 3 hotels Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has in Fuerteventura:

In the centre of the island, the best accommodation option lies in Puerto del Rosario. Although the capital is always a bit more expensive, the difference of price is the same one can save when travelling around the city (it is not necessary to have a car) or when shopping or partying at night.

On the north of Fuerteventura, the ideal accommodation area is Corralejo. Here we find the hotels in Grandes Playas of the hotel chain Atlantis, such as the Bahía Real Gran Hotel or the exclusive luxury hotel Barceló Corralejo Bay.
